Reach Birmingham Foundation Co. for foundation repair at (205) 000-0000, any hour. Bookings usually land within a day or two across Jefferson and Shelby counties. The visit produces floor elevation readings, crack documentation, the exterior water path, and a written scope.
What we ask before a visit
What you are seeing and roughly when it began — doors catching, brick opening up, floors running away from level, trim pulling apart at the mitres. Then whether any of it comes and goes with the calendar, because a door that only jams in August is describing a different problem from one that has not shut properly since 2021. Which way the lot falls. And what has changed lately: a tree gone, new concrete, a room added, a wall built to hold something back.
When to call a foundation repair company sooner
A horizontal crack in a foundation wall, because that indicates lateral pressure rather than settlement and it is progressive. A retaining wall that has begun to lean or separate at the joints. A crack visibly wider than it was a month ago. And a warm spot on a slab floor with an unexplained water bill, which is one of the few causes insurance frequently covers.
Already holding a bid?
Bring it. We will read the scope and the warranty with you line by line at no charge, whoever wrote it, and say plainly where it looks sound and where it looks thin. In a metro where every national brand competes, that hour is frequently worth more than another quote.
Service area
Birmingham and the surrounding communities — Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Trussville, Bessemer, Irondale, Center Point, Mountain Brook, and Helena, across Jefferson and Shelby counties. See service areas for each community.
What happens after you call
We ask a handful of questions on the phone, and they are not a script — they decide what we bring. Whether the lot slopes and which direction. Whether the symptoms shift with the seasons. Whether there is a retaining wall involved. Whether the house is young enough that a builder warranty might still be open, because that answer can change who pays for the whole thing.
Then we schedule, usually inside a day or two. The visit runs about an hour, produces floor elevation readings across the footprint, and ends with a walkthrough where the numbers turn into a plan. You keep the document regardless of what you decide, and if you are holding proposals from other companies, have them out on the table.
What foundation repair costs, before you call
So the conversation starts from real numbers rather than a range invented on the phone: full repairs run $4,000–$15,000, piers $1,200–$3,000 each, slab work $3,500–$12,000, drainage correction $1,500–$6,000, and crack repair $400–$1,500. The cost guide breaks down what moves each of them, and the evaluation page lists exactly what the visit covers.
Before you call
What should I have ready when I call?
When you first noticed, whether it changes with the seasons, which direction the lot slopes, and whether anything changed recently - a tree removed, a drive poured, a room added, a retaining wall built. Photographs of the worst crack with something for scale are genuinely useful.
How quickly can somebody come out?
Usually within a day or two across both counties. Anything tied to a closing date moves ahead of the queue because those dates do not negotiate, and a horizontal crack in a foundation wall gets treated as urgent.
Is there any charge for the visit?
None, and that includes reading a competitor's proposal and warranty with you. We charge for work you approve and nothing else, including the visits that end with a recommendation to extend two downspouts and re-measure in the spring.
Can you talk to my agent or my builder?
Yes. On a purchase we work with the agent and send the report and photographs directly to you. On a newer home we will point you at the builder warranty first, with the documentation a claim needs, before pointing you at our invoice.
